Hi!
My name is Cat Neri and I’m a Sound Designer. I’ve been working professionally in the audio industry since 1998 and in the game industry since 2001. Sheesh time flies as I just read over what I wrote…
I am currently an Audio Lead at Trion World Network in sunny San Diego. We are developing a sci-fi based game in conjunction with the Sci-Fi channel. Pretty awesome stuff!
I got my start as a studio engineer at Omega Recording Studios in Rockville, MD. My main focus was mastering but I also did some recording/mixing. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Diana Krall, Donna Summer, several bands for a local radio station. I’ve recorded anything from radio spots to full orchestras. I am a ProTools user to the core.
I’m an avid MMO player. In fact that’s what transitioned me from a recording studio engineer to game audio. I played an MMO game called EverQuest starting around 1999 and got completely hooked. After playing this for a few years and listening to the audio for that amount of time I decided it to try to get into the game industry because I thought it would be a nice creative addition to my audio skill set and just a super fun career.
I landed my first game audio job as an Audio Lead for Acclaim Entertainment in Salt Lake City, UT in 2001. It was a great place to start out… My boss was awesome, the games were enjoyable, and SLC was a pretty neat place to live. I have also worked with Sony Online Entertainment and Microsoft Game Studios since then.
As a side project I also work with The Blimp Pilots doing audio for iPhone games. We have developed 3 applications so far. Koi Pond, Distant Shore, and Name in Lights. Koi Pond was the #1 selling app in 2008 which was an amazing accomplishment and surprise for us!
